What do you do differently or how is your coaching different from others?
My coaching practice is inherently different from others because of my industry experience and long tenure as a corporate attorney, including seven years at a private equity and hedge fund. Clients come to me when they want a highly practical yet welcoming, patient approach. In addition, my expertise in personal branding is highly sought out. I help clients grow their branding organically from a place of authenticity (strengths, values, and priorities), with an eye to the “marketplace” of their targeted employers.
What according to you has been the most critical thing that has contributed to your success as a coach?
The most critical thing that has contributed to my success as a coach is that I have evolved my coaching practice to meet the needs of my clients. For example, as a number of my executive clients started seeking board roles, I launched my signature Board Mastermind program and created a community focused on board readiness for attorneys who are underrepresented on boards.

I was struggling 20 years ago, I had been made redundant for the second time. I was fed up with my day job, the endless commuting and office politics, the general stress and feeling like “what’s the point?”. “What is my purpose”, or simply what can I do to feel happier! I happened to pick up a copy of Psychology magazine one day and I read an article on how to nourish yourself written by a life coach. I knew straight away that I wanted to be one! I wanted to help someone after I fixed myself. I then qualified after 2 years of tireless study feeling fully empowered and prepared to help others. It is an honour to be able to touch someone else’s life, to change their futures and to hear their most private thoughts. A privilege I don’t take lightly. For me, every story is unique and I analyse each one differently, using different techniques that will work best for each individual. I listen attentively, understanding from the perspective of my clients in a bid to understand the scenario from their point of view. I love my clients in their uniqueness, and I look forward to sharing your thoughts with you.

I’m Laura Roeder, and my husband Chris and I created Paperbell together. Here’s a bit more about the journey that lead me here . . . I quit my first and only job in 2007 to become an entrepreneur, and I haven’t looked back since! I’ve been a web designer, online business consultant, course creator, and software creator.
I’m also a founder of MeetEdgar, LKR Social Media (my social media course business – it’s defunct now but you can still take one of our most popular courses here), and Marie Forleo’s B-School. Over the years I’ve grown multiple businesses to over 8 figures in revenue, all while working from home and maintaining a flexible lifestyle.
