What do you do differently or how is your coaching different from others?

I help speculative fiction writers, who aim to promote diversity in fiction, write novels that tackle big topics and help change the world for the better, word by word. I focus on helping writers explore the themes, values, beliefs, and moral imperatives that they hold dear in order to craft a novel with deep resonance. By assisting writers in identifying the core message they want readers to take away and building the novel around that foundation, I ensure their stories convey profound insights about human behavior and the world. My coaching style is supportive and relaxed, encouraging writers to delve deeply into their work rather than rush through it.

What according to you has been the most critical thing that has contributed to your success as a coach?

The most critical factor in my success as a coach is my authenticity and willingness to create and share high-value content for free. This includes my popular podcast “Speculative Fiction Writing Made Simple,” where I offer expert writing advice, create valuable workbooks for writers. This also includes the free monthly writing workshops I hold for my email list, where working writers can experience high-level book coaching and determine if it’s worth a long-term investment of their hard-earned money. This spirit of generosity and growth-centered coaching has been key to my ability to help writers while simultaneously building a thriving coaching practice.

Simon Golden

“I hired Simon to work on my book, The Financial Mindset Fix. My hope was that Simon could help me find research support for my writing. He delivered wonderful research support but also was extremely instrumental in helping me structure and organize my book and ensure my content was comprehensive and most useful to readers.

I’m confident that the manuscript I delivered is twice as good as what I would have submitted without Simon’s help.

My editor from Sounds True said that my manuscript delivery was “an editor’s dream” and needed no developmental editing. On top of all this, Simon is one of the kindest human beings I’ve known and is an absolute delight to work with. Highly intelligent, reliable, responsive, creative and collaborative. I highly recommend any opportunity to work with Simon.”

Lori Yares

Hi, I’m Lori Owner, Editor, & Book Coach. My dream has always been to make a difference in this world and improve lives, even if it’s just by bringing a smile to someone’s face. Whether I spread it through my own writing or guide other writers to spread it through theirs, all that matters is we leave the world better than we found it. I also love happy endings. But if endings can’t be happy, they should at least leave a reader with hope.
