What do you do differently or how is your coaching different from others?

My approach is grounded in the understanding that our inner way of being calls forth the dynamics and circumstances that we encounter every day.  By creating shifts at the level of our way of being, we begin calling forth a new reality in all facets of our lives.  My approach is grounded in advanced expertise in human development, leadership, and systemic change as well as the ability to access a deeply intuitive and creative sense of what each client needs.  This work goes beyond productivity and accountability; it’s about transforming one’s way of being in the world.

What according to you has been the single most important thing that has contributed to your success as a coach?

What makes me unique as a coach is my ability to integrate head, heart, and hand.  Every time I sit down with a client, I draw upon my doctoral level work in developmental psychology and adaptive leadership, my two decades of experience as a senior leader in both large organizations and small start-ups, my extensive training in the integral coaching model, and my skills as an artist and musician.  My success is grounded in my ability to synthesize all of that into clear, practical, powerful guidance for my clients.

What do you do differently or how is your coaching different from others?

Dina’s passion is to support parents who often fall between the cracks of the health system, as they may not tick all the boxes for a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety disorder but are still deeply suffering emotionally and do not understand why. Specifically, she supports overwhelmed parents to overcome feelings of self-doubt, anxiety, guilt, loss of self-identity and grief for previous life, and loneliness.

From her experience, a lot of times the source of the distress lies deep in the way of being of the person. When a baby comes into the picture, this way of being gets disrupted or may no longer be sustainable. For example, a parent who is used to be in control, has perfectionistic tendencies, and is used to be the expert in their profession, may experience distress by the loss of control, unpredictability, and feeling of “I have no idea what I’m doing” once the baby arrives.

Dina also supports parents return to work after parental leave, to create healthy boundaries between family and work and feel accomplished in both.  Finally, Dina supports parents beyond their first journey into parenthood. A lot of parents find themselves in this phase of “reclaiming themselves”, once their little ones have grown a little bit.  But they may feel confused, disoriented, and stuck, not knowing where to start from.

What according to you has been the single most important thing that has contributed to your success as a coach?

Traditional approaches to changing behaviour, a lot of times fail because they rely on a cognitive understanding only and the self-discipline to choose a new behaviour over a habitual behaviour. Willpower alone is not enough because our habits are hardwired in our body’s nervous system. My method is Integral, which means holistic, and a big part of the work is done at the somatic level, to help our brain, body and nervous system build new habits.

In addition, Perinatal clients have particular needs and it’s important to understand these needs. There are several paradoxes that women and men in perinatal distress experience. For example, they know they need help and have a deep longing to let go and lean on support, AND at the same time they feel the need to hold on to every ounce of control they can get. I had the honour and privilege to train with Karen Kleiman on the Art of HoldingTM where grounding, presence and safeguarding the client in distress are particularly important for healing.
