I allow my intuition to guide me in my business coaching sessions with entrepreneurs. Being of service first has always served me well as a professional coach. Most coachpreneurs think about making money first then later giving back. I say to flip that model. Be of service first then the money will follow. When I first became a coach, I provided pro bono coaching to get my feet wet. Besides the other tools I’ve described, who I am and who I am being, is the most important contributor to my success. When I am with a client, I am totally present, it is like I am one with the client. My listening is complete, unconditional and generous. My intention is to be free of any assumptions by asking questions that lead to my hearing what is being said and also what is not said. From this place we know where we will focus our attention in our session.

The first question a business owner ought to ask any coach: “Who is your coach?”
The unwillingness of many coaches to invest in their own coaching support is reflected in the commercial challenges they face. I credit my success to my mentors and coaches, from the first training I did in 2006-07 through to the ongoing investment I make for my team today.
We cannot put our hand on our heart and tell clients that investing in coaching will change their lives, unless we are also prepared to put our hand in our pocket and invest in coaching for ourselves.
