Chapter 1:

Basics of Polarity Therapy

In this chapter, I will explore the basics of Polarity therapy, an energy-based healing arts. This holistic approach to health focuses on balancing the life force energy that flows through the body.

By the end of this chapter, you will understand what Polarity therapy is and how it originated.

Polarity Therapy: The Definitive Guide Polarity Therapy

What Is Polarity Therapy?

Polarity Therapy is a cutting-edge approach to healthcare based on the principle that the human body is a field of energy. This energy field can be measured, manipulated, and transformed using various techniques.

Polarity Therapy is based on the belief that imbalances in the energy field are the root cause of pain and disease. By correcting these imbalances, it is possible to promote healing and wellbeing.

Polarity Therapy is a relatively new approach to healthcare, but it is quickly gaining popularity in the healthcare community due to its effectiveness, more and more people are looking for alternatives to traditional medicine.

If you are interested in exploring this exciting area of healthcare, then read on to learn more about Polarity therapy.

How Does Polarity Therapy Work?

There are also subtle energy forces that bind the human body, just as subtle electromagnetic forces govern the movement of planets and stars.

The body is not just our physical vessel but also the digital playground for life’s many experiences. Polarity works with these forms of energy, using an integrated system that includes self-care practices like yoga and meditation and counseling services to help you enter into balance–both mentally/emotionally and physically.

Polarity therapy is an innovative healing practice created by Dr. Randolph Stone (1890-1981), a chiropractor and osteopath who combined Eastern practices such as reflexology with Western approaches like acupressure to create this new type of therapy which he called “polarizing.”

He sought out ways for health care providers from different backgrounds to work together more effectively while also being aware they have differences in opinion when it comes down to what treatments will benefit certain patients because every individual has unique strengths depending on their race or cultural background.

The underlying essence of all healing arts is balance and flow. This has been shown by the growing number of professionals, such as nurses and chiropractors, who successfully incorporate Polarity therapy into their work.

Now that you know what is Polarity Therapy, let me move onto the next section of this chapter which covers the history behind it.

Polarity Therapy History

As discussed above, Polarity therapy was created by Dr. Randolph Stone, who initiated its development in the early 1900s. Dr. Stone was a chiropractor and osteopath who had studied Eastern medicine and was fascinated by the idea of life-force energy or life energy — i.e. Reiki.

He realized that the human body is a comprehensive system of energy fields, and he began to develop techniques to manipulate these fields to promote healing.

Polarity Therapy believes that one law of nature maintains the body’s energetic equilibrium – the push-and-pull between positively, neutrally, or negatively charged areas within our physical realm.

An imbalance of these charges is the cause of physical, emotional, and mental disease.

In Polarity therapy, practitioners use various techniques to assess and correct imbalances in the energy field. These techniques include massage, energy work, yoga, and counseling.

Polarity Therapy Session

Not every but some professional polarity therapists use a standard format for their sessions. The session usually starts with an interview in which the therapist will ask about your medical history, current symptoms, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This may not be necessary if you are seeing the therapist for a specific issue such as pain relief.

Although each session is unique, some general steps are followed in most cases.

STEPS TO CONDUCT A POLARITY THERAPY SESSION
STEPS TO CONDUCT A POLARITY THERAPY SESSION
  • Note Down Client’s Needs

The Polarity practitioner will first find out what the client needs. Once they know this, it’s time for them to start their hands-on work and remove any clothes that might be slowing down the process, such as eyeglasses or shoes, while still being fully clothed not to disappoint anyone who has come from afar hoping an appointment.

  • Assess the Client’s Energy State

After the client is comfortable, the practitioner assesses the client’s energy state. This is done by observing the client’s posture and breathing, feeling their pulse, and looking at their tongue.

The practitioner will also ask the client about their medical history and current health concerns.

  • Apply Polarity Therapy Techniques

Once the practitioner has assessed the client’s energy state, they will begin to apply various Polarity Therapy techniques. These techniques may include massage, energy work, Polarity yoga, and counseling.

The specific techniques used will depend on the needs of the client.

The work is often done with great care and attention to detail, but a more physical approach is sometimes needed. The therapist will use their hands to stimulate energy without being too rough or invasive for the client’s comfort level.

  • Keep an Eye on the Client’s Feedback

The therapist will be monitoring the client’s reaction throughout the session. They will make sure that the client is comfortable and that the techniques are effective.

If the client is not responding well to a particular technique, the therapist will adjust their approach.

Sometimes, the client feels pain in areas where there is an energy imbalance. This is normal and is a sign that the therapy is working.

  • It’s Done Now. Enjoy Relaxation!

Once the session is over, the client will be given time to relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits.

The therapist will usually give the client a glass of water to drink and may offer guidance on best integrating the experience into their daily lives.

Now that you know more about Polarity therapy, you may wonder about its purpose. Keep reading to get an in-depth overview of this cutting-edge approach to healthcare in Chapter 2.

  • Enhance Personal Growth and Development

Polarity therapy can be used as a tool for personal growth and development. By working with your energy, you can become more self-aware and learn how better to manage your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

You can also use Polarity Therapy to explore your beliefs and values, and set goals.

  • Support Healing Journey

There may be times in your lives when you need extra support to help heal yourself quickly. Polarity therapy can complement other healing modalities, such as traditional medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and psychology.

What is Polarity Therapy used for?

With Polarity Therapy, you can harness the power of energy to heal your body. It’s not just for self-care anymore!

The benefits are endless when it comes to how much better life gets with this natural healing technique that has been around since ancient times – and still works today.

Although there is no medical proof that this therapy can actually cure anything but rather just help improve the quality of life, many people have attested that it has helped them get through some tough times.

Some of the most common conditions that Polarity therapy is used for include:

  • Chronic pain – arthritis, back pain, nerve pain, migraines, etc
  • Menopause – hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, etc
  • Digestive issues – constipation, diarrhea, IBS, etc
  • Cancer – side effects of treatment, pain management, etc
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – concentration, focus, hyperactivity, etc
  • Cerebral palsy – spasticity, movement disorders, etc
  • Depression – low mood, negative thinking, lack of motivation, etc
  • Insomnia – difficulty falling asleep, waking up frequently, etc
  • Anxiety – worry, racing thoughts, panic attacks, social anxiety, etc
  • Plantar fasciitis – heel pain, arch pain, foot pain, etc
  • Autoimmune diseases – lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc

As mentioned above, there are no evidence-based studies that show Polarity Therapy can cure any of these ailments, but many people have found relief from their symptoms.

Following are the studies that show the effectiveness of this therapy:

According to a study conducted in 2012 by National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Polarity therapy was an effective treatment for stress. The study participants who received Polarity therapy had significantly lower levels of stress and depression than the others who did not receive the therapy.

Another study by Karen M. Mustian and her companions from University of Rochester, NY, in 2011, in which 45 women undergoing radiation Therapy for breast cancer were given either Polarity therapy, massage therapy, or standard treatment. The results showed that the women who received Polarity Therapy had little more improvement in fatigue than the other two groups.

Polarity therapy can also be used for general wellness and relaxation. It’s a great way to destress and unwind after a long day.

Principles of Polarity Therapy

The foundation of Polarity therapy is based on four principles that range from counselting, bodywork, nutrition and exercise. I will break down each of these four principles for you.

PRINCIPLES OF POLARITY THERAPY
PRINCIPLES OF POLARITY THERAPY

1. Counseling

The concept of ‘Polarity Therapy’ is based on the principle that “active and reflective listening” are essential to successful counseling.

As part of Polarity Therapy, counseling plays a vital role in helping individuals become more aware of their thoughts and emotions and how they influence their physical body health.

The therapist will want to explore your relationships with others, how your mental health affects your body, and vice versa.

This process can help you understand yourself better and make changes that improve your overall health. Counseling sessions usually last for an hour, although the sessions will vary depending on your individual needs.

If you are interested in exploring Polarity Therapy, be sure to find a qualified therapist who can provide you with the support and guidance you need.

Although counseling is an integral part of Polarity therapy, it’s important to understand that it’s not like psychological counseling or psychotherapy. Polarity therapists don’t need to have any mental health licenses or certifications, and there’s relatively little research on the safety and effectiveness of counseling in this context.

2. Bodywork

The body is the canvas for an artist’s masterpiece. It’s time to get creative with your life by giving yourself permission and understanding that you deserve self-love just like everyone else does! With Polarity therapy, you can work with your client together on painting this beautiful picture through various techniques such as touch or stretching; guided breathwork (sometimes called conscious breathing).

You may feel a light touch on your body during a Polarity balancing session. Your therapists might use their hands to detect areas of energetic imbalance and apply direct contact if necessary, depending on what you’re experiencing in terms of symptoms.

Vigorous stroking may lead to mild rocking as a relaxation and energy balancing method.

3. Nutrition

With the help of a Polarity Therapist, you can reduce toxins in your body. Polarity therapists believe that these chemicals obstruct your energy flow and may lead to chronic health problems like allergies or cancer.

Polarity Therapy is a healing system that focuses on the healing power of food. In this way, it’s very different from other weight-loss programs because its emphasis isn’t just about managing your diet but also on consuming whole foods like fruits and vegetables and using anti-inflammatory spices such as turmeric for flavor.

Here’s something you should know; a Polarity Therapist may have any formal nutritional education or licensing, but it is not a mandatory requirement.

4. Exercise

Polarity therapy is a gentle, yoga-inspired form of bodywork that can help you find your inner peace.

Combining poses and stretches in an instinctual manner tailored to each individual’s needs will allow them time for self-expression while practicing positive thinking through vocalizations such as “ha” or “hum.”

Please note that Polarity therapy is not the same as yoga. Yoga is a form of exercise that may be used in conjunction with Polarity therapy, but it is not the same thing.

Two Essential Exercises Anyone Can Do on Their Own to Balance Polarity

Since Polarity therapy is based on the principles of energy balance, there are a few exercises you can do at home to try and restore balance.

Here are some exercises by Dr. Stone:

1. Exercise for the Release of the Neck Tension and Brachial Plexus

Performing the following exercise can help loosen chest muscles and alleviate neck spasms by releasing them.

  1. Lie facedown on the floor with the back flat.
  2. Raise the legs and grasp the inner thighs, keeping your hands near your pelvis.
  3. Raise the legs with your hands, then lower them as you raise the head and upper body off the floor.
  4. Raise yourself onto your knees while keeping the legs in place. Lower the upper body to the floor with your arms still holding on to the legs.
  5. Keep exercising in a rock motion.

2. Exercise for Diaphragm Release

The abdominal muscles and diaphragm are strengthened with this exercise.

  1. Lie down on your back.
  2. Straighten and tauten the legs, keeping them tightly clasped together.
  3. Raise and lower the legs several times on each side with your hands on the upper abdomen.

Polarity Therapy vs. Reiki

There are many alternative medicine practices that claim to heal by releasing blocked energy channels in your body, but both Polarity Therapy and Reiki use similar hands-on techniques.

Though practitioners believe in their benefits, these therapies have little scientific evidence supporting them so far.

The notion that your body’s electromagnetic charge inhibits energy flow is unique to Polarity therapy. Here’s a comparison of their features:

Polarity Therapy

  • Polarity balancing is influenced by two ancient forms of medicine: Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine.
  • Proponents think that modifications in your body’s electromagnetic fields disrupt the flow of energy in your body.
  • Practitioners employ their hands in contact with your body to discharge energy.
  • Sessions usually last longer than reiki sessions.

Reiki

  • Dr. Mikao Usui is credited with the invention of Reiki, which originated in Japan.
  • It’s said to be the transmission of energy from the practitioner’s palms to the patient.
  • When there is an injury or emotional pain, it’s thought that energy stagnates in the body.
  • The average session is shorter than a Polarity therapy.

Chapter 3:

Benefits of Polarity Therapy

Without the vital energy that flows through the body, we would not be able to function. This energy is what animates us and gives us life. When this energy is blocked, it can cause pain and disease.

Polarity Therapy is said to unblock these energy pathways and restore balance. In doing so, it is thought to provide a number of benefits. Let me explain each one of them in-depth.

Detoxifies Tissue Layers

Polarity Therapy is a revolutionary system of energy healing that uses cleansing diets and easily digestible foods to cleanse your body while also helping you build back up stronger cells and tissues.

Anti-inflammatory Effects on the Body and Joints

Polarity Therapy has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on the body. This can help to reduce pain and stiffness in the joints.

Stimulates Circulation

As Polarity Therapy promotes the energy dynamics in the body, it also stimulates circulation. This can help to improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and tissues.

Improvements in Headaches and Migraines

Who doesn’t suffer from the occasional headache or migraine? Polarity Therapy can help relieve tension headaches and migraines by unblocking energy movement and restoring balance in the body.

Improvements in Concentration and Clarity of Thought

Polarity Therapy can help to clear your mind and improve your concentration. This is because it helps reduce stress and increases the flow of vital energy in the body.
